‘Sisi’ (ICA,2019)

Inspired by seminal Nollywood film ‘Girls Cot’, a ‘runs girl’ movie where female students take powerful men for nearly all they are worth, juxtaposed with the innocenct faces in portraits of young women in their first years at Nigerian universities, Sisi explored the politics of female pleasure and power through the lenses of transactional relationships, coming-of-age processes and female empowerment in Nollywood films.

The programme included the presentation and discussion of two original written accompaniments to the collection, written by researcher Precious Oyelade and poet Momtaza Mehri and commissioned by Chinasa and the ICA
