Celestine, 2021
Named after seminal band ‘Celestine Ukwu and the Philosophers National’, Celestine is inspired by the instruments used in African folk music traditions. Like the instruments carved by hand from wood or moulded from clay, each object reflects the artisanal process and emerges imperfect yet unique, a modern artefact marked with its own identity, as though set down just after playing.
